Test Structure
CTEL

Introduction

The CTEL consists of three separate subtests. Each subtest is scored separately.

The structure of the examination is shown in the tables below.

  • CTEL 2: 2 hours and 45 minutes
  • CTEL 3: 1 hour and 30 minutes

  • All 3 subtests in a single session: 6 hours

  • CTEL 1: 50 multiple-choice questions and 1 essay
  • CTEL 2: 60 multiple-choice questions and 2 essays
  • CTEL 3: 40 multiple-choice questions and 1 essay

  • CTEL 1: 70% multiple-choice questions and 30% constructed-response questions
  • CTEL 2: 70% multiple-choice questions and 30% constructed-response questions
