Retake Assessments
A test or subtest may be taken as many times as necessary to achieve a passing score.
A passing score must be achieved at a single test administration. Performance on parts of a test or subtest cannot be combined across administrations. If you wish to retake a test or subtest, you must re-register for the entire test or subtest.
You must wait 45 calendar days from the date you took the test to retake a test or subtest on computer. If you have registered to take more than one subtest comprising a single test in a single testing session, you must wait 45 calendar days from the date of your test appointment to retake any of the subtests for which you registered, even if you did not attempt or complete all subtests for which you were registered.

CBEST: If you obtain a passing score (41 or higher) on any section of the CBEST, you do not need to repeat that section. It may be to your advantage, however, to repeat a section already passed. An increase might help you reach the total score of 123 required to pass the CBEST. The highest score that you obtain on each section, no matter when earned, will be used to compute your total CBEST score.
You must wait 45 calendar days from the test date before retaking the same section(s), even if you did not attempt or complete all sections for which you were registered.

An assessment may only be taken if you are enrolled in a California-accredited preparation program. The program has the right to determine how many times it will support you in the process of taking and passing the assessment. Check with your program coordinator to determine how many times your program will support you in taking the assessment. You can take the assessment as many times as necessary to achieve a passing score, but may need to enroll in another program to do so.
A passing score on each cycle must be achieved through a single submission. Performance on parts of a submission (e.g., some written narratives, some video recordings) cannot be combined across submissions. If you wish to retake a cycle, first discuss with your program the level and depth of revision required. Then you must re-register for and take the cycle in its entirety.
