WEST–E: Designated World Languages: Latin
The Designated World Languages: Latin test from the Washington Educator Skills Tests–Endorsements™ (WEST–E™) program is now accepted by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) to fulfill the subject matter requirement for the Single Subject World Language Credential in Latin.
Who Needs to Take the WEST World Languages: Latin Test?
Candidates applying for the Single Subject World Language Credential in Latin may take and pass this test in lieu of completing a Commission-approved subject matter program in Latin as one part of the requirements for the Single Subject World Language Credential in Latin. How do I Register? When and Where Can I Test?
California candidates must register for this computer-based test at the WEST website by selecting "Register" at www.west.nesinc.com . The WEST website also includes:
- date and appointment availability
- test center locations
- fees
- preparation materials
- policies and rules

Note that when you register, you will be required to agree to abide by the WEST rules and policies indicated on the WEST website, including the WEST Rules of Test Participation. Be sure to review the rules and policies carefully before registering.

What Are the Test Fees?
The Designated World Languages: Latin test fee is $96.
How Do I Prepare for the Test?
Preparation materials, including a study guide with practice questions, are available by selecting "Prepare" at www.west.nesinc.com .
What Is the Passing Score?
The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing has adopted the WEST passing score of 240.
Where Can I Find My Score Report?
You may access your score report online from the WEST website beginning at 10:00 p.m. Pacific time on the score report date. Score reports will be available for 2 years as PDF documents, which you may view, print, and save for your records.
How Do I Submit My Scores to the State of California?
- Download the WEST Score Report Request Form on or after the score report date.
- Complete the form. Indicate that you wish your scores be sent to the CTC by entering the following address on line #9 of the form:

- Fax your completed form to Evaluation Systems at (866) 483-6460 (toll free, US and Canada only).
- Do not include payment. The $10 test results fee will be waived for this one-time reporting of the Designated World Languages: Latin test results to the CTC.
Failure to complete these steps will result in your scores not being reported to the CTC and may delay the issuance of your credential.
